The Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust is overseen by the Board of Directors.  Each school’s local Governing Body is known as the Academy Association and has representatives from the school staff body, parents and members of the local community. They meet as a Full Academy Association several times per year and carry out a number of important functions.

The Governing Body is responsible for appointing the Head of Academy and supporting the Head of Academy in the leadership of Erdington Academy. Although they do not manage the operational running of the school, they help to set the strategic direction, create and review policies, objectives and targets which are presented to them by the Academy’s Senior Leadership Team. They approve and review the Academies budget. They provide challenge and hold the school leadership to account. The mantra which the association work to is “Being a Critical Friend “.

Parents/Carers and members of the local community are invited to join the Academy Association (for a period of four years).

Should you have any queries relating to Erdington Academy’s  governance, meeting schedule or minutes, please contact Chris Stevens in the first instance – c.stevens@fmat.co.uk.

I live in Erdington and my son left Erdington Academy at the end of his year 11 in 2017.  Living within the local community and having a child that was of senior school age I have held an interest in the local schools and the level of education they offer each child. My Son attended Erdington Academy during the time of its transition under the Fairfax Multi Academy Trust. I became involved with the School through the parent’s forum and then progressed to Parent Associate.

My focus and belief is a child’s postcode should not determine their access to high quality education. While my son was a pupil of Erdington Academy I regularly attend the parent forum meetings and believed becoming a Parent Associate was the next step for me to support the school in maintaining the positive direction it is heading under the Fairfax multi academy trust.

I currently work as a social worker, as part of an all age disability team and I feel the experience and training I have gained and continue to receive gives me a good base to support and challenge the school; reinforcing that every child matters and they all receive an education that focuses on each pupil’s individual needs and abilities. Ultimately ensuring each pupil leaves with skills that enable them to be successful in life.
