The Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust is overseen by the Board of Directors.  Each school’s local Governing Body is known as the Academy Association and has representatives from the school staff body, parents and members of the local community. They meet as a Full Academy Association several times per year and carry out a number of important functions.

The Governing Body is responsible for appointing the Head of Academy and supporting the Head of Academy in the leadership of Erdington Academy. Although they do not manage the operational running of the school, they help to set the strategic direction, create and review policies, objectives and targets which are presented to them by the Academy’s Senior Leadership Team. They approve and review the Academies budget. They provide challenge and hold the school leadership to account. The mantra which the association work to is “Being a Critical Friend “.

Parents/Carers and members of the local community are invited to join the Academy Association (for a period of four years).

I am a PE teacher with 20 years teaching experience. I have taught at my current school since 1998, which is now part of the Fairfax Multi Academy Trust. I have held various positions of responsibility, including Faculty Leader, Lead Practitioner, Head of Department and whole school responsibility for Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance and the more able. I have also ran my own Health and Well being company.

I look forward to working as part of the Academy Association to continue the high standards at Erdington Academy and improve the lifechances of all stakeholders

I live within the local community and my son is in Year 11 at Erdington Academy  I am currently completing a Degree in Social Work. My back ground lies in HR and Office Management within a not for profit training provider who worked primarily with 16-18 years.  My focus and belief is a child’s postcode should not determine their access to high quality education.  As such like many of the parents I have watched with interest the changes that have taken place over the last 18 months at Erdington Academy.  I regularly attend the parent forum meetings and believe becoming a Parent Associate is the next step to support.

I have worked with children who have additional learning needs for the past 15 years within the City, currently I am an Inclusion Manager at a large Junior School. I have worked closely with both the Local Authority Special Educational Needs Assessment Team (SENAR) and also the Early Help and Brokerage Team on projects to benefit the children and young people of Birmingham. Aside from work I am a committed Christian and part of the Leadership Team of my home church. I am married with two teenage boys. It is important to me that everyone, regardless of gender, age, nationality or wealth has opportunities available to them to enable them to succeed to the best of their ability with the appropriate support and encouragement to achieve personal success.
