Examination Outcomes for Erdington Academy
The Government has announced that it will not publish any school or college level educational performance data based on tests, assessments or exams for 2020, and has outlined accountability arrangements for 2020/21.
The Year 11 for 2020 are a combination of the Centre Assessed Grade (CAG) or the ‘calculated grade’ which is generated by Ofqual using a national statistical model. The final grades are calculated using whichever is higher. Heads of Centre (in effect, the Head of Academy) were required by Ofqual to ensure that “students are awarded a grade which fairly reflects the work that they have put in”, and to “ensure that the distribution of grades follows a similar pattern to that in other years”.
The academy set up a robust process of moderation, gathering evidence from teachers and leaders to justify predicted grades. These grades were then moderated by subject leaders and senior leaders based on the advice provided.
The Department for Education confirmed that the 2020 results will not be used for any accountability measures and should not be used to judge the performance of academies.
Further information on what this means for the way school and college accountability will operate for 2019/20 and for 2020/21 can be found here.
