Headteacher’s Blog – 15th June 2018

The weather has been beautiful this week and the weather on Monday was perfect for the Kingsbury School Partnership Commonwealth Games Event.  Over 40 schools were represented and there were Sports Leaders there from not only Erdington but 3 other Secondary Schools.  The opening ceremony was spectacular, the Lord Major gave an inspiring speech.  We had a Commonwealth Games gymnast who not only spoke to the students but did back flips from the stage.  We also had the Erdington Academy Hairspray cast perform one of the songs from the production and our newly formed Samba band perform.

It was lovely to see so many Primary students enjoy participating in sport, each Primary school represented a Commonwealth country so they learned a lot about the Commonwealth Games itself.  We are so fortunate to have the Commonwealth Games here in Birmingham in 2022, all of my Australian relatives are very excited and they have already booked their visits to the Games.  I will make sure I support England and Australia.
